The Quest for Squawks Pt. 1 – UPDATE!

Toronto Pirate Kids Magician

Today begins the quest Squawks! I have decided that I want to add a parrot to the show! After a good week of research, I know I’m going to have to dedicate a lot of time and effort to my new companion in order to make it work for everyone. My goal is learn everything there is to know about raising and training a parrot before I even consider buying a bird. With that in mind, I’ve decided that – if I’m ready – I will start looking for birds late 2015. That gives me a year-and-a-half to get ready so I’ve decided to try to document the process (all the interesting parts at least).

With that in mind, I’ve been in contact with a good friend of mine who recently acquired an African Gray Parrot! Through him I’ve been put in touch with a gentleman from Jungle Services who’s going to meet with me today to give me a first hand look at some of the things I’ll have to deal with when I own a parrot! Unfortunately he lives in London, Ontario so I’m going to be making a two-hour drive each way. I know it’s going to be worth it though!

I’ll be sure to grab some great pictures while I’m out! Check back tomorrow to hear more about the start of my adventure!

UPDATE: DUE TO AN UNFORESEEN TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL TODAY, I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT OUT TO LONDON. EVERYONE IS DOING OKAY AND I WILL BE RESCHEDULING MY ADVENTURE TO A LATER DATE.

While you’re waiting, why don’t you vote on which is your favorite type of Macaw parrot! Look at the pictures and vote below!
